Royal Family KIDS Mentoring Club is a school-year program built on the relationships formed at Camp. Mentoring Club is about building safe, caring relationships between kids from hard places and compassionate adult mentors. Mentoring Club also builds community through monthly meetings to sustain and to expand the friendships developed at Camp. Many of us think of mentors as people who help us develop skills. For RFK, skill development is a common byproduct of mentoring – but it is not the top priority. Our mentors desire to expand their child’s life vision. It is the quality of the relationship – the proven track record of the mentor – that allows him or her to positively influence the life of a child. This kind of mentor can help the child begin thinking about the future. Mentors can teach the child how they can influence the quality of tomorrow by the actions they take today. Mentors can help the child recognize their God-given talents and the fulfillment that comes from using them. Over time, mentors can enable the child to begin dreaming bigger dreams and, with God’s help, make them come true.
